Cameras for Guns badge: a smiling camera

MIAMI · BRASIL — A GIVEBACK BY GENNADY MC & ANONYMOUS MEDIA

Bring me a gun. I’ll give you a camera — and teach you how to shoot.

Firearms go to the police. Cameras and training go to the neighborhood. A nonprofit being formed in Miami and Brazil, relaunching in 2026.

No exchange is open yet and no police partner is confirmed. Never bring, send or offer a firearm to Cameras for Guns or Anonymous Media — instructions will come only from the participating law-enforcement agency.

Why we exist

Switch the paradigm.

Violence is what a young person reaches for when the world taught them scarcity: take, or go without. We teach the opposite. A camera in the hand is a way to earn, to create, and to be seen for what you make instead of what you take. Same hands. Same hunger. A different tool — and a different ending.

  • Scarcity →Craft
  • Violence →Creativity
  • Lack →A living
“Where the click of a shutter speaks louder than the echo of a gunshot.”
“Cameras, not guns, define our legacy.”

Why I built it

This is a thank-you.

Miami gave me a craft, a crew and a company. This is how I give it back — not with a check, but with the one thing I actually know how to put in someone’s hands. A gun comes off the street. A camera goes into a hand. Someone learns to shoot — frame, light, sound, cut — and gets paid for it one day.

Miami ↔ Rio

Two cities. One trade.

I built my life between Miami and Rio de Janeiro. Both taught me the same thing: the kids with the least access have the most to say. Cameras for Guns has two homes — Miami and Brazil — one rule in both: the police take the firearm, we bring the camera and the class. The plan is a first event in Miami and a sister chapter in Brazil; no event or local partner is confirmed.

Miami

Proposed location for a first exchange, subject to a confirmed police partnership.

Rio

A proposed sister chapter in Rio; local partners and legal arrangements are not confirmed.

Me traga uma arma e eu te dou uma câmera. Quer atirar? Toma a câmera — vai filmar.

How it works

Three steps. We never touch the firearm.

  1. An announced event

A participating law-enforcement agency would set the date, the site and the rules. No agency or event is confirmed.

  2. Officers take the firearm

Intake, custody and disposal are theirs, by their procedures. Cameras for Guns never handles a firearm: not at the table, not in transit, not for a photograph.

  3. You leave with a camera and a seat in the course

For eligible adult participants, under the event’s published terms and our confirmed capacity. Taught by the crew that shoots for a living.

Safety notice

No police partner or exchange event is confirmed. Do not bring, send or offer a firearm to Cameras for Guns, Anonymous Media or their staff.

Firearms are handled only by police officers, by their procedures. No police partner or exchange event is confirmed yet. Do not bring, send or offer firearms to Cameras for Guns, Anonymous Media or their staff. Any future surrender instructions will come directly from the participating law-enforcement agency.

What you leave with

Shoot, redefined.

The camera is the door. The course is the room.

Proposed program — nothing is being requested or accepted

For tech brands & retailers

Second Shot — a proposed equipment program.

We are designing a program to refurbish last-generation cameras, phones, laptops and drones for media education in Miami and Rio — so young people learn to shoot with gear that would otherwise sit in a warehouse. We are not requesting or accepting money, equipment or pledges. Youth education is separate from firearm surrender; we never ask a minor to possess, transport or surrender a firearm.

  • Cameras & lenses
  • Phones
  • Laptops & software
  • Drones
  • Memory & accessories

Every unit is refurbished and logged. Your brand is in the story — with consent, never as a condition of anyone’s camera or course. Any future support would follow applicable registration approval or exemption compliance.

A production company, donated whole.

Time and equipment, committed by Anonymous Media. Capabilities on the table for a partner, not a record of events already run.

01

Event production

Staging, sound, power and crew for an announced exchange event.

02

360 photo booth

The thing that turns a parking lot into something people want to stand in.

03

Music

A day that sounds like the neighborhood, not like a press conference.

04

Filming

We never film or identify anyone who surrenders a firearm. Any other filming is with written consent — a parent or legal guardian’s for minors — and is never a condition of the camera or the course.

05

The training

The free photography and video course itself, taught by the Anonymous Media team.

06

The crew

Working photographers, videographers and editors, on the clock for the program.

What has happened, and what has not.

  1. 2020

The idea started. The marks were drawn, the motto was written.

  2. 2026

The relaunch. Same motto, a real operating model, a production company behind it, two cities.

  3. Not yet

No exchange event has been held. Nothing is claimed here that has not happened. The first event happens with a police partner, or it does not happen.

Four stages. Stage one is now.

Stage 1 Now

Planning & setup

  • Police partnership for safe disposal
  • A legal framework
  • The brand and awareness campaign
  • Plan future equipment support, subject to applicable registration approval or exemption compliance
  • Partnerships with schools, nonprofits, churches and community organizations
  • Identify a local partner and establish a Brazilian sister association

Stage 2

Pilot — Miami first, then Rio

  • One community
  • Outreach events with local churches and nonprofits, where Anonymous Media donates 360 photo booths and music
  • A proposed public launch event, only after a police partnership is confirmed
  • The first free classes and webinars in photography, videography and media production, with ongoing mentorship

Stage 3

Both cities running

  • Learn from the pilot with participants, police, churches and community leaders
  • Take it to new communities in Miami-Dade and Rio
  • Second Shot partners in both cities

Stage 4

Sustained

  • A long-term model funded by donations, grants and corporate partners
  • Other cities only by invitation

Founding commitments

Built to be trusted.

The corporation will have no voting members. Directors are elected by the board under the bylaws; a Community Advisory Council nominates candidates and brings feedback to an annual community meeting. Clear qualifications; diverse skills, backgrounds and experience.

Term limits. An annual community meeting. Published use of funds.

Directors, officers and key people disclose any personal, professional or financial conflict. The board reviews it; the person abstains; every disclosure and decision is documented; the policy is reviewed every year. Any paid dealing with Anonymous Media needs approval by the unrelated directors.

The founder’s word

Why a video company is the one doing this.

I run Anonymous Media. Cameras are what I own, what I teach, what I know how to put in someone’s hands properly. So when I say bring me a gun and I’ll give you a camera, I’m not improvising a charity. I’m offering the one thing I’m an expert in, for the one trade I most want to make in this city.

The verb is the whole thing. Shoot means something different depending on what you’re holding. I’d like more people in Miami and Rio holding the other one.
